Driving in Liberia

Before you set off

• Traffic drives on the right.
• Fill up in Monrovia or a county capital before a long drive — fuel stations thin out between towns.
• In the rainy season (roughly May to October) many upcountry roads turn to mud. An SUV or 4×4 is the safer choice.
• Keep your licence and the rental papers in the car — police checkpoints are common.
